Campping in North Cyprus
So you’re going on a holiday in North Cyprus. Sure it’s nice to stay in a hotel, but there is so much breathtaking scenery out there, if you’re not out in the middle of it, you might miss just a small part. But that small part could make your Northern Cyprus holiday that much more unique and special.
One of the best ways to truly experience the North Cyprus experience is to just go back to your roots and go camping. No TV, no bar, no being waited on hand and foot, just you, a tent, and the stars. The best place to go camping on your North Cyprus Holiday is on the Karpas Peninsula.
There is so much wild life around that area it is not bustling with a lot of people. Some places are just unspoiled, and baron, which is perfect for camping. Imagine just camping up on a piece of land which a huge rock face behind you, giving you a little more security.
Even restaurants that you pass by on the beach will sometimes offer camping facilities. You can even camp close enough to the turtles and see them hatch their eggs. Just make sure that you do not disturb them, and enjoy the sheer excellence and beauty that is completely surrounding you.
You can camp at Salamis where you can see the ruins of one of the most important cities in Cyprus, even at Lapta with an abundance of trees on the sides of the mountains. There is a plethora of campsites where you can stay, and you will be in awe of the countryside that is surrounding you.
This is truly a way to get away from it all. There are even some sites that offer Horse Riding and Paragliding and also Caving, that will make sure your stay is unforgettable. Make sure you do not go alone though, it’s always best to have someone camping with you for extra safety.
Still though, with the vast landscapes and the beauty of the land, unfortunately you can’t just set up camp anywhere. There is not really any restrictions as to where you can camp, but be ready for the military to come pay you a visit if you are in their area.
But that would mostly be in the mountains. If you set up camp and avoid those areas, then you will be fine and you can experience the rugged land to yourself. Again, when you are on your Northern Cyprus holidays, just remember to respect the environment. You can travel and camp to rural areas, and enjoy the experience, but there is one rule that you must abide by.
This one and only rule is that you cannot light fires in forested areas for obvious reasons. But apart from that you can explore, have fun, camp, travel, and just enjoy your time that you can spend with nature, and being surrounded by the mountains, the wild life and the ocean. |
